At a recent fundraiser held by the Santa Maria Association of Realtors (SMAOR), Prudential California Realty was voted the Taste of Santa Maria. The distinction was received at the inaugural Taste of Santa Maria Contest, which was held to raise funds for local high school students seeking scholarships. Area businesses were invited to compete for the honor of best booth and dish.

With Asian-themed steak kebobs and a slaw salad filled with Serrano peppers, cilantro and onions, Prudential’s Santa Maria office was voted best in show. “I would like to thank all of my agents for contributing to our entrance fee and the cost of food,” said Martha Beckman, manager of the office, “but I would especially like to thank Julie Walker and Gini Ruggles for working the event. Julie is a fabulous cook and is always trying something new.”

Over 130 people attended the event, and 14 tables paid the $100 entrance fee. “This was a really fun social evening filled with appetizers, wine and desserts,” added Beckman. “I can’t think of a better way to get out in the community and spend time with our neighbors and friends while raising funds for some of our most deserving young people. I’m happy to say that it was so successful the association is planning on making it an annual event.”
