SD Young Artists Symphony to Host Copley Concert

Prudential California Realty agent Catherine Nina Evarkiou is inviting the public to attend the San Diego Young Artists Symphony’s (SDYAS) presentation of “A Salute to the Music of the Movies,” on February 12, at 3 p.m. in Copley Symphony Hall, at 1245 7th Ave. The concert is a celebration of famous film scores and the theme for the organization’s second annual collaborative event, the Young Artists Symphony Ensembles & Friends in Concert, where members from eight schools’ orchestras will perform alongside SDYAS.

Special guest conductor Jung-Ho Pak of Orchestra Nova will participate in the event along with Music Director Hernan Constantino and Associate Music Director Jane Frey.  Young musicians’ ages range from 3 to 23.

Evarkiou serves as executive director of the SDYAS, a nonprofit that was created in 1995 to bring promising young musicians together from schools all over the county. “Music crosses personal and cultural borders, to create a more strongly aligned and friendly community,” says Evarkiou. “By reaching out to the community with public concerts, visits to schools and retirement homes, and other special events, our organization works to benefit the diverse populations of San Diego.”

Born and raised in San Diego, Evarkiou loves sharing her extensive community knowledge to match her buyers with the perfect neighborhood and lifestyle to fit their needs. To deliver high sale prices and short market times for her sellers, she collaborates with her numerous area connections, sets accurate prices and advertises in the most highly trafficked print and online destinations.

Based out of Prudential’s La Jolla office, Evarkiou specializes in the marketing and sale of residential properties throughout San Diego County. “Nina has exceptional communication and negotiating skills,” says Nicki Marcellino, manager of the office. “Her focus on providing her clients with pertinent research and useful information has given her an outstanding reputation in the real estate community.”

An adjunct professor of Literature and Composition at Point Loma Nazarene University, Evarkiou comes from a musical family and started playing piano at the age of eight. Both of her children are serious musicians. Her son, formerly the concertmaster of SDYAS and of La Jolla Country Day’s Upper School Orchestra, is currently a senior at Interlochen Arts Academy and her daughter, a student at Pomona College, is presently taking a year’s leave to study at the Chicago Conservatory of the Performing Arts.
