Sheila Rose of Prudential California Realty was recently asked to walk in the 124th Annual Rose Parade, but this had nothing to do with her last name. In fact, the 30-year real estate veteran was invited to participate for her efforts in helping raise $275,000 in 2012 to support the Sheri & Les Biller Patient and Family Resource Center at City of Hope.
For the past four years, Rose has competed in a half marathon to raise funds and awareness for the center. Last year she traveled to Seattle with her team, the Resource Racers, to race in the city’s annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon, and they have traveled as far away as New York.
“I am very proud that my team and I were able to raise over a quarter million dollars to help cancer patients and their families,” said Rose. “I would like to thank all of our colleagues and friends for the support that they have given us over the years.”
The Biller Resource Center offers free services to those affected by cancer, on-site at the City of Hope. Funded entirely by donations, and led by professionals and volunteers, the center offers a wide array of programs and services, from counseling, housing information and financial aid, to yoga classes, complementary medicine and nutrition education.
“Walking in the parade and having so many people tell me about what the City of Hope has done for them was very heartwarming,” said Rose, who is based in Prudential’s Beverly Hills office. “It really inspired me to work harder and raise more funds for this wonderful cause.”
A Luxury Properties Specialist, Sheila Rose has consistently ranked at the top of the residential markets in Beverly Hills and the Westside of Los Angeles. One of the founding members and past presidents of the Associates of the Jewish Home, she continues to serve on the board for the organization. Rose is a board member for Prudential’s Charitable Foundation, as well as the Art Museum Council of the L.A. County Museum of Art.
